There are three main train stations in Munich: München Hauptbahnhof (Hbf), München-Pasing und München Ostbahnhof. From the Main Station (Hauptbahnhof) there are trains to destinations all over Germany and Austria. The station "München-Pasing" is in western Munich, whereas the other two stations are located in the city center of Munich. The S-Bahn, wich is the backbone of the public transportation system in the wider Munich area connects the three main stations in short intervalls.

Munichs central station, the "Hauptbahnhof" is about one kilometer away from the Oktoberfest fair ground (Theresienwiese). Next stop to the fairground at the S-Bahn is "Hackerbrücke"; starting from the central station "Hauptbahnhof" you can use the subway (U-Bahn) U4/U5 instead, which stops directly at the fair ground "Theresienwiese".
More information about timetables and fares are available on the travel service website of the
German Railways (Deutsche Bahn AG).
